Watermelon

My husband brought a watermelon back home today. He told me that it was from his grandma. Because she heard that this is the first of the season and it is so sweet from the farmer she trusts, she bought it for us. She knows that my 1-year-old son loves eating so she especially wants him to enjoy it.　　

It tasted really nice and my son looked so happy to have it.
His grandma often gives us seasonal fruits and they have never disappointed us. Thanks to her, my son has enjoyed lots of nice fruits since he is little. He will have good taste in fruits in the future.

Japanese people think that it’s good luck to eat the first seasonal food of the season.
We call it “初物　hatsumono“.

スイカ

夫がスイカを持って帰ってきた。夫のおばあちゃんからだそうだ。おばあちゃんが信頼している農家さんから，これは初物で，とても甘いと聞き，買ってくれたとのこと。おばあちゃんはビビが食べるのが大好きなことを知っているので，特にビビにスイカを楽しんでほしいとも。

スイカはとてもおいしくて，ビビもとても嬉しそうだった。
おばあちゃんはよく，季節の果物をくれて，どれも絶対にはずれがない。おばあちゃんのおかげで，息子は小さいときからたくさんのおいしい果物を食べている。彼は将来，果物に関しては舌が肥えているだろうな。
