“おかあさん，give you the candy”

When I was pushing my stroller with my big shopping bag today, an elderly lady with a stick suddenly talked to me.

“おかあさん(mum) give you the candy” she simply said. I was taken aback and simply said, “あ，ありがとうございます(Thank you)”. She gave it to me and gone. I was a little bit embarrassed rather than happy at that time, because I think I looked so tired that the unknown lady gave me the candy.
But now, I’m happy to feel her kindness. I think she tried to cheer me up by seeing my tired face.

Thank you, lady; the candy energized me!

今日，大きな買い物バックをさげてベビーカーを押していたら，杖をついた年配の女性が突然声をかけてきた。
「お母さん，飴あげる」
私はびっくりして，「あ，ありがとうございます。」としか言えなかった。そのおばあちゃんは，一言そう言って飴をくれると，行ってしまった。その瞬間，嬉しいというより，恥ずかしかった。きっと，知らないおばあちゃんが声をかけようと思うほど，私は疲れて見えたんだろうから。
でも今は，彼女の親切心が嬉しい。私の疲れた様子を見て，元気づけようとしてくれたんだろうな。

ありがとう，おばあちゃん。おばあちゃんの飴で元気が出たよ！
